After getting close at last year’s IAADFS golf tournament, Philip Morris Duty Free went for the top spot this year and got there.

After participating in the event for seven years, the company’s foursome shot a 59 to take the 2015 title.

“It’s actually exciting,” said Frank Russo, district manager with Philip Morris Duty Free. “It’s an honor for us to win the tournament. Last year, we came in third place.”

Russo said there’s no secret to how they won, except for a good mix of luck and skill.

“We’re fortunate,” he said. “We had a couple of good players. That helps. We had two eagles, so that was good.”

Russo said he enjoyed playing in this year’s tournament and is already looking forward to next year’s event. The best part of the tournament isn’t the winning, he said.

“I think it’s just the people,” he added. “You get out and you see a lot of customers, and it’s a lot of fun.”

Richard Kennedy, sales director for Scorpio Worldwide in the United Kingdom, who has played in the tournament for more than 20 years, placed third in a putting competition. He said he had a lot of fun during the event.

“It’s great,” he said. “I enjoy it every year. It’s always good to play golf with friends and have a good time. It’s a great way to start the week.”

golf2Nick Tamma, CEO of travel retail with American Caribbean Gateway/OTIS McAllister, said he’s pleased his company could sponsor the event yet again.

“It’s the second year that we’ve been given the opportunity,” he said. “We’d like to grow this year after year and
improve it as much as we can. We think it’s a great opportunity for everyone to mingle, and it’s just good fun and well
spirited in every way.”

IAADFS thanks American Caribbean Gateway/Macanudo Cigars for its sponsorship of the 2015 golf tournament. Botran Aged Rums, Brown-Forman, World Equity Brand Builders, and Tea Forte also supported the event.
