Last night’s Gala Evening served up a grand finale for the IAADFS Show.

Duty Free Show attendees changed from their business suits into cocktail attire and enjoyed a break from the Tradeshow floor at last night’s Gala Evening. The elegant soiree is a highlight of the show for many, a way to unwind, and yet still network, after spending long hours promoting products and meeting with buyers and customers.

A variety of musical entertainment, including Adele and Marc Anthony tribute singers, entertained the crowd. An onstage trio greeted people as they entered the ballroom, while an eight-piece orchestra provided background music. Guests received a gift bag and special-edition 90th anniversary chocolates from Gala Evening supporters Revlon and Godiva.

Attendees enjoyed gourmet food and an open bar, including wine sponsored by Brown-Forman Beverages Worldwide, in the refined atmosphere. IAADFS Board President Alberto “Pancho” Motta Jr. gave his thanks to the board of directors and show sponsors, followed by a viewing of the annual video montage highlighting this year’s Duty Free Show, from setup to after hours.

It’s the people that make it fun for Irina Wiedemann with Otis McAllister’s wine division. “I’m new to travel retail, and I can see that people in this industry really care about each other. It’s like family. The Gala is great; the food and the people, the company at your table, they make it fun.”

Jorge Galbis, founder of Global Brand Equity Solutions, has been in the industry for 22 years, the last two as an entrepreneurial distribution company, and he sees value in the Gala as an exclusive networking event. “The (Duty Free) Show, and the Gala, are key for business development for my company and are important for building our network.”

At the end of the evening, the airwall dividing the room was opened, allowing guests the opportunity to stay and dance the night away at Club Americas.
