Mixing business and pleasure with ease

Staff at the Monarq Group, booth 1037, prepare for more than 2,300 IAADFS Show attendees. The Trademarket is open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today.

The 2016 IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas kicked off yesterday with plenty of opportunities for attendees to work hard — and play harder.  Exhibitors spent Sunday setting up their booths in preparation for this morning’s Trademarket opening, but they mixed in a little fun as well.

Sunday’s Sports Day activities continued the tradition of offering attendees networking opportunities and a little friendly competition while enjoying the scenery of sunny Orlando. Following the success of last year’s inaugural Fun Run/Walk, this year’s event was extended to a 5K. Essence Corp. once again sponsored this popular run/walk, which benefited Escuela de la Calle (EDELAC).

Attendees also were given an opportunity to earn bragging rights at the annual golf tournament, sponsored by American Caribbean Gateway/Macanudo, and a tennis tournament. The day was capped off by Sunday evening’s opening reception, sponsored by Bacardi, offering attendees the opportunity to relax and mix a little business with pleasure before hitting the Trademarket floor this morning.

The Trademarket floor will continue to offer plenty of exclusive networking opportunities as it opens with nearly 200 exhibitors displaying their products geared to the duty free market. The Trademarket will be open in the Cypress, Palms, and Crystal ballrooms from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Registration is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

Many private receptions will take place each night of the show, but the highlight is the Gala Evening Tuesday from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. For the night owls, Club Americas will be open from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday and Tuesday nights.
