Dear colleagues:

On behalf of IAADFS and the association’s Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 Duty Free Show of the Americas.

The show kicked off yesterday with our traditional sports day program featuring golf, tennis, and an expanded 5K fun run/walk that benefits Escuela de la Calle, a charity helping children in Guatemala. Last night’s Opening Reception gave attendees a chance to reconnect and start to make plans for the rest of the show.  The Trademarket opens today, where almost 200 exhibitors are showing thousands of the latest products for the duty free and travel retail industry. More than 30 of these companies are first-time exhibitors and are identified by “New Exhibitor” ribbons on their badges and “New Exhibitor” decals next to their booths. Please be sure to welcome them to the show.

New for 2016 is this morning’s education session, open to all attendees. It begins with Angela Gittens from Airports Council International (ACI World), who will share her insights about the state of the travel industry. Then Peter Mohn from m1nd-set will give an overview of research findings conducted just prior to the show concerning traveler buying habits in North America and the Caribbean. Mohn’s overview from today will be followed by a more in-depth workshop presentation scheduled for tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.

Our three-day exhibit hall and the accompanying IAADFS-hosted social events provide multiple opportunities for attendees to meet, network, conduct business, and nurture the relationships that are so vital to our industry. Revenue from the show is reinvested by IAADFS into advocacy work that benefits association members and the industry as a whole.  We thank our exhibitors, sponsors, and attendees for their continued support of IAADFS and the show. We are glad you have joined us and know you will enjoy a very productive time here in Orlando.

Please contact a member of our staff if you need any assistance.

Best regards,

Alberto “Pancho” Motta Jr.
